In all these fields, their aim to ensure optimum drug therapy, both by contribution to the preparation, supply and control of medicines and associated products and by providing information and advise to those who prescribe or use pharmaceutical products.
 
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma)
The degree in Pharmacy in India was started about 60 years ago with an aim to cater manpower for growing pharmaceutical industry in India and for the effective implementation of drug laws. With the vast growth of pharmaceutical industry and adaptation of modern technology in the production and standardization of drugs and formulations, demand for pharmacy graduates is increasing.

The awareness of the importance of health related drugs both controlled and over the counter as well as the right use of toiletries and cosmetics has accelerated the demand of professional pharmacists. SIPER, Lahar is geared up to meet this need.

The degree in Pharmacy of four years (Eight semester) course is designated as Bachelor in pharmacy in short B.Pharm. It is a full time undergraduate degree course spread over to eight semesters.

Admission -
jurisdiction of Govt./AICTE/RGPV Management and subject to change time to time.

A) ELIGIBILITY:
Minimum qualification for admission to first semester of degree in pharmacy shall be passed in 10+2 science stream examination with physics, chemistry and biology/mathematics or computer science/ informatic practices with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in physics, chemistry, biology/ mathematics or computer science/informatic practices (kindly refer rules for admission & eligibility).

Or students passed in diploma in pharmacy with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in final year, can take admission in B.Pharm second year (III Semester) directly (kindly refer rules for lateral entry).

B) ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
Admissions in the B.Pharma. degree course will be given through the counseling under the directives of Director, Technical Education, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal. The students will be called in blocks according to their merit position in entrance test. The AICTE has approved the total intake of 60 students for first year to SIPER. Though the procedure subjects to circumstances and may differ as may be deemed fit by Director, Technical Education, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal.

Programme Structure -
The Bachelor of Pharmacy is a four years full time undergraduate degree course spread over to eight semester. It is based on continuous internal assessment as well end-semester external examination. Students are required to complete all theory & practical papers spread over four years of programme. Students shall take compulsory Industrial Training of four weeks with component of evaluation after completion of VI Semester in various pharmaceutical organisations.

Mid Sem. :
Thirty percent of the marks for each theory subject/paper and forty percent of the marks for each practical shall be allotted for mid sem.

Theory:
Two mid sem. Examinations shall be held during the semester for each paper/ subject from which one best answered by candidate shall be considered for the award of mid sem. marks

Practical :
  • Marks in practical are awarded on the basis of
  • Experiments performed by students
  • Prior preparation for experiment
  • Experiments in laboratory
  • Result of experiments
  • Day-to-day completion of records and viva-voce
  • Attendance and performance in laboratories.
 

Division in Examination - 
    The division shall be awarded only after VIII semester examination and shall be based on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate at his/her successful attempts at the I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII & VIII semester examination i.e. full examination of B.Pharm. There shall be only three divisions as follows:
    • First Division with Honors 75% and above
    • First Division 60% and above but below 75%
    • Second Division Not less then 50%
    • Pass Division Below 50%
    The University will declare the merit after the main examination of eight semester of B.Pharm. on the basis of the integrated performance of all the four years. The merit list shall include the first ten candidate securing at least first division and passing in all semester examinations in first attempts.
